WHEW! It’s been a crazy couple of weeks! Noah and I went to our first fancy playgroup! It was fantastic to meet some new moms and dads and talk about the trials and treasures of staying home with our little one’s! This is noah and bodie getting acquainted on the floor.

We have our 2nd swim class tonight and due to a mishap in the bedroom last night (get your minds out of the gutters! Jaythan stubbed his toe on the bed!!)  I’ll be the only one in the pool with Noah!!  this is lucky for you folks as that opens up Jaythan to play photographer!  See you soon!

Just keep swimming, swimming, swimming

Noah had his first swim lesson last night!!  It was really cool to see an entire facility completely devoted to children’s swim.  I think kids need a special environment to feel safe and comfortable in order to begin to trust being in the water, and Swimwest is just that place!  I’m slacking on the pictures, the whole lesson took both Jaythan and i doing the dance to keep Noah happy so i didn’t get the chance to snap any pics but I promise I’ll capture Noah doing the crawl next week!

thats right folks, noah is 6 months today! We celebrated with a fancy play group where we played, talked, and took a tour of our new car! It was quite the exciting time. I didnt get a chance to take any pics so I’ll have to share next time!

It was dreary here in Wisconsin today, I hope you are all reading this with sunny skies and happy hearts on this first day of spring!

Tonight marked the first time we fed Noah rice cereal. I’m not sure how much was actually ingested, but I’m totally pumped about what’s to come!!

hello monday!

Posted in Jennifer on March 19th, 2007 by Queen – Be the first to comment

whew! what a day!! Noah and I rang in the week with quite a few new engagements. We met up with my music together moms at the Lazy Jane Cafe where we celebrated getting there, eating lunch and doing it without getting thrown up on. We lamented our last music together class then danced and sang all through it. Noah and I then finish off the day with a play date with Oliver and Alicia where Oliver, following Noah’s lead, was blowing raspberry’s like a champ as they were heading out the door! It was fantastic!

Speaking of the day, my father-in-law was recently up and brought to my attention how completely different my life is… I am an suv driving, “mommy and me” class taking, stay at home mom… and I’m HAPPY! I won’t ever hide the fact that where Jaythan and i are right now is surprising but I hope that everything in my past- my work at UW, my faith in stem cell research, my ability to enjoy being a mom- will synergise with my future to make me a successful person.

I hope the same for all of you!

cell phone helpful hints

Posted in Jennifer on March 18th, 2007 by Queen – Be the first to comment

I forwarded these tips to my fam but wanted to post them as well. Jaythan and i couldn’t believe some of these!

THINGS YOU NEVER KNEW YOUR CELL PHONE COULD DO.

There are a few things that can be done in times of grave
emergencies. Your mobile phone can actually be a life saver or an
emergency tool for survival. Check out the things that you can do
with it:

FIRST

Subject: Emergency

The Emergency Number worldwide for Mobile is 112. If you find yourself
out of the coverage area of your mobile; network and there is an
emergency, dial 112 and the mobile will search any existing network to
establish the emergency number for you, and interestingly this number
112 can be dialed even if the keypad is locked. Try it out.

SECOND

Subject: Have you locked your keys in the car?

Does your car have remote keyless entry? This may come in handy
someday. Good reason to own a cell phone: If you lock your keys in the
car and the spare keys are at home, call someone at home on their cell
phone from your cell phone. Hold your cell phone about a foot from your
car door and have the person at your home press the unlock button,
holding it near the mobile phone on their end. Your car will unlock.
Saves someone from having to drive your keys to you. Distance is no
object. You could be hundreds of miles away, and if you can reach
someone who has the other “remote” for your car, you can unlock the
doors (or the trunk).

THIRD

Subject: Hidden Battery Power

Imagine your cell battery is very low. To activate, press the keys
*3370# Your cell will restart with this reserve and the instrument will
show a 50% increase in battery. This reserve will get charged when you
charge your cell next time.

FOURTH

Subject: How to disable a STOLEN mobile phone?

To check your Mobile phone’s serial number, key in the following digits
on your phone: * # 0 6 #

A 15 digit code will appear on the screen. This number is unique to
your handset. Write it down and keep it somewhere safe. When your phone
get stolen, you can phone your service provider and give them this code.
They will then be able to block your handset so even if the thief
changes the SIM card, your phone will be totally useless. You probably
won’t get your phone back, but at least you know that whoever stole it
ca n’t use/sell it either. If everybody does this, there would be no
point in people stealing mobile phones.

And Finally….FIFTH

Cell phone companies are charging us $1.00 to $1.75 or more for 411
information calls when they don’t have to. Most of us do not carry a
telephone directory in our vehicle, which makes this situation even
more of a problem. When you need to use the 411 information option,
simply dial: (800) FREE 411, or (800) 373-3411 without incurring any
charge at all. Program this into your cell phone now.

HAPPY TALKING!

The end of an era

It completely blows my mind the way things change on a weekly basis here. My son, Noah Emmett Elam, is discovering the world around him one reach at a time.

This week, he is grasping and shaking rattles, he’s working on rolling from side to side, he’s getting more excited about assisted standing, and has finally outgrown his bassinet graduating to a big boy crib.

The realization that we needed to expand hit when i came in to find him latched onto the sides of the rails with both hands while touching opposite ends with head and feet. It was a sad day. The retiring took a small ceremony as jaythan said a few nice words before we dismantled it. We have since painted the nursery and are using our custom sheets and blankets (via my mother-in-law)!

What can I say, he loves it! and so life is as it should be, as Noah is sleeping in style.

A little irish in us all

Posted in Jennifer on March 18th, 2007 by Queen – Be the first to comment

So we woke up Saturday morning to hundreds of marathon runners cutting through the neighborhood from the lake taking part in the annual St patricks day festivies!

Celebration is big up here in the old country :) . Jaythan, Noah, Jay, and I put together our greatest efforts to support and cheer for the Irish. The parade was a fun filled rush of bands, kilts, candy, and loads of green!

HAPPY ST. PADDY’S DAY!

the power of touch

noah and i are trying our talents with massage. He looooooooves it. i mean who wouldn’t? it consists of 90 minutes of “naked time” where he rolls, scoots, and schooches all around while I rub him down. It’s his new favorite passtime.
